Where's Waldo? (AKA Abby)

Whew! It's been awhile since I've posted anything! What with our visit with Nannie and Granddad finished not that long ago, I figured it's time to get back at the blog! Might as well celebrate my triumphant return to blogging with a good story...
So I put Abby to bed tonight at the usual time, around 8pm, knowing full well that she would play in her room for a little bit and eventually fall asleep. She'll usually haul a few extra toys into her bed, maybe a book, and play for a bit before she drops off. Everything went according to plan and I heard things quiet down in her room around 8:30; I knew she must have fallen asleep. As usual, I went in to check on her before I turned in around 9:30, at which point I usually take out all the extra toys she's accumulated and make sure she's tucked in safe and sound for the night. Imagine my surprise when I opened the door to her room and, as the light filtered in and my eyes adjusted to the dark, I couldn't find Abby anywhere! Not only was she not in her bed, but neither were her blankets, her pillow or ANY of her stuffed animals! I had a brief moment of panic before I noticed that the trundle drawer from under her crib had been pulled out into the middle of the room... hmmmm.....
There was a suspicious lumpy pile of blankets emitting a soft snoring-like noise in the middle of the drawer, and I could see an Elmo peeking out from beneath the blankets at me... A-HA! Stifling a laugh, I ran from the room, grabbed the camera and returned to document this strange phenomena. As I pulled the blankets back, her eyes flew open and she was all smiles; clearly she was impressed with herself. I must admit, she looked pretty cozy. So I lifted her out of her drawer-nest and tucked her, her blankets, her pillow, and all her stuffed toys back in her bed where she promptly went back to sleep.
Oh my.

Fun Before Bedtime

It gets pretty crazy around here just before bedtime. I'm not sure why, but I think it's common for many children... they need to go a little mental before they settle in for the rest of the night. Well, at least that's what it's like for my kids anyway! Our after supper/before bedtime hours are usually spent running from room to room, climbing on stuff, reading stories, playing with toys, yelling and screaming, and of course throwing the occasional fit. Good stuff! Here are some photos of some pre-sleepytime hijinks.
Oh, and you'll notice a common theme as well... Abby is a big fan of nudity. It's next to impossible to keep her clothed in the evenings, and I've given up fighting! She's happy, I'm happy, everybody wins. Besides, with a bum that cute, how could you not show it off?!

Strolling

We were out and about all this week enjoying the few remaining snow-free days of 2009. It's been absolutely gorgeous here, and I am dreading the impending winter weather! The girls love their daily walks, and I think as long as we get all bundled up they can continue to happen no matter what Mother Nature throws our way. I hope we're laying the foundation for them grow up to be the type of kids who would rather run and play outside than spend countless hours in front of the tv.
p.s.-- I've said it before and I'll say it again: I LOVE MY STROLLER!

This Bum's For You

I don't have much to say about this set of photos.... other than yes, I know she's a bit of a wierdo. I have an unnerving feeling that she's going to be one of those kids that refuses to let anyone help her get dressed and she'll be the kid in class who's wearing her bathing suit, leggings, and rubber boots. Not looking forward to those school photos...! Gotta lover her unique creative spirit though, right?!

And no, I don't know what she was digging for in her butt. But it kept her busy for quite some time! As long as she's content, I try not to ask too many questions. And I'm pretty sure I would be creeped out by some of the answers as well.

Breakfast Shennanigans

Wondering what's going on here? She's letting me know "I'm two". Just in case I forgot.

We were a bit bored this morning so I decided to whip out the camera and have a bit of fun with the girls at breakfast time! I definitely have a couple of goofballs on my hands here, good times. They had fun playing with hats, poking at eachother, and making goofy faces. Enjoy!
